I/O-22 Line Out Component

The Line Out provides line-level output for devices other than QSC DataPort amplifiers. The Line Out converts the processed digital signal to analog and provides software controls before and after the D/A convertor. Connections are made using two three-terminal Euro style connectors.

Controls

The controls listed below are divided into sections to match the Control Panel sections. Each control listed in the Analog and Digital sections, are one per channel.

Once you establish the initial settings for a component, you can save those settings, along with all the other component's settings, in a Snapshot.

Control

Function

Default/Range

Amplifier

Turns the I/O-22 amplifier on or off for the Speaker output on the I/O-22 hardware. The Speaker output is on Channel 2 only. The amplifier provides a powered output to the "SPEAKER" connector. A line-level output is provided on the "LINE OUT 2" connector. Turning this on or off has no effect on the LINE OUT 2 on the hardware.

Control

Function

Default/Range

Peak Output Level (dBu)

Measures Peak Output level to the output device

Range = 20dB to -100dB

Relay Mute

Mutes the output after the D-A converter and before the output. In addition, the amplifier is turned off.

Off/On

Max RMS Output Level (dBu)

Controls the RMS output level after the D/A converter.

Default = 21

Range = -10 to +21

Digital

Control

Function

Default/Range

Peak Output Level (dBFS)

Measures the Digital Signal level prior to the D/A converter.

Green = good

Yellow = close to clipping

Red = clipping

Clip

Red LED indicating if the signal is being clipped.

Off/On

Clip Hold

Holds the clip indication until manually cleared.

Off/On

Invert

Inverts the audio signal.

Off/On

Mute

Mutes the digital audio signal.

Off/On

Gain

Controls the gain of the digital audio signal prior to the D/A converter.

Default = 21

Range = -10 to +21

Status

Status LED

This LED changes color to indicate the current status of the I/O-22 Output. See Status for the meanings of the various colors.

N/A

Status

Displays the current status of the amplifier both in text and color. The following is a list of possible status colors, and some example conditions.

OK – Green – (0) – Audio is good, hardware is good.

Compromised – Orange – (1) – Audio is good but a redundancy mechanism is active (one LAN down but the other is still up) or a non-fatal hardware problem exists (fans too slow, temperature higher than expected, etc.)

Fault – Red – (2) – Audio is not passing, or hardware is malfunctioning or mis-configured (amplifier power off, audio streams broken, wrong type of I/O Card installed, loudspeaker short circuit, etc.)

Missing – Red – (3) – A piece of hardware, defined in the design, has not been discovered. Audio is not passing through that piece of hardware.

Initializing – Blue – (5) – In the process of firmware, configuration update, and design start. Audio is obviously bad.

Not Present – Gray – A virtual component in the design, that is designated as Dynamically Paired, and Not Required ,has no hardware assigned to it.

Properties

There are no adjustable properties for the Line Out card. However, when the component is selected, you can select some of the Properties available for the entire component. For an explanation of these properties refer to the IO/22 Status topic.
