About Connectors

This topic explains the connector naming conventions used in this help file.

D-subminiature Connectors

The information used to determine the D-subminiature names was obtained from Wikipedia.org (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D-subminiature).

Briefly, the D-subminiature connector names all start with a D, indicating the shape of the connector. The next letter indicates the size of the D-shaped metal shield, followed by a number indicating the number of pins in the connector.

DA-15

The DA-15 connector is the A-size shell containing 15 pins in two rows and is used for some of the Q-SYS GPIO connections.

DE-15

The DE-15 connector is the E-size shell containing 15 pins in three rows and is used for the Q-SYS DataPort connections. This connector is typically used for VGA connectors on PCs.

DC-37

The DC-37 connector is the C-size shell containing 37 pins in two rows and is used on the DataPort Amplifier Backup Panel (DAB-801) for stacking two DAB-801s.

Phoenix or Euro Connectors

These terminal block type connectors are used in Q-SYS for various purposes, and are color-coded as to their purpose. The number of pins, or positions, varies between connectors. See the specifications for the item for connector size.
