Using the Schematic
VIDEO TUTORIAL: Video tutorial available online for Workspace Intro.
The Schematic, in the center of the Q-SYS Designer workspace, is where your Q-SYS system is designed. You organize, connect, and configure Schematic Elements, write scripts, test control logic and audio signal flow, and operate and adjust the system from the Schematic area.
- To design a system, you add various elements to your Schematic including: Components, Inventory Items, Snapshot Controllers, and so on.
- The term Schematic Element refers to anything after it is in the Schematic.
- You can add multiple pages to your Schematic and link Schematic Elements across pages.

Moving Around the Schematic
There are a few ways to navigate the Schematic when it gets larger than what can fit on a single Schematic page.
- Context Finder - this feature enables you to jump back and fourth between associated Schematic Elements. Some examples (not all possible scenarios are listed):
- You can select an item in the Inventory list, press Ctrl+F, and any of its components that are in the Schematic are listed in the upper right corner of the Schematic as links. Clicking a link moves focus to that component in the Schematic.
- You can select a control in a component's control panel, and if it is part of a Snapshot Bank, the Snapshot Bank is listed as a link to the Snapshot Bank in the Snapshots list.
- You can select a Signal Name and jump from the source to the destination, and back.
- You cannot select an item in the Schematic Library and jump to something in the Schematic.
- If an item is hidden behind another item such as a control panel, or another component, the system jumps to the item, but you won't be able to see it.
- Scrolling - use the scroll bars on the right side and bottom of the Schematic.
- Panning - click and release the mouse's scroll button and a panning symbol displays. You can move the mouse in the direction you want to pan, and the Schematic is repositioned in that direction. When you are finished panning, click anywhere in the Schematic.
Right-click Menus
You can access various tools by clicking an item with the right mouse button. The item you click determines the menu that displays, and the tools within that menu that are active.
