VIDEO TUTORIAL: There is a video tutorial available online for Administrator.
The Q-SYS Administrator allows you to set up and maintain various Q-SYS resources including Public Address (Paging), Scheduling, Users (Security), User Control Interfaces, and Audio Files. You access the Administrator either through Q-SYS Designer (Tools menu, or the toolbar show Administrator button), or as a stand-alone application. Q-SYS Designer is not required when you use the stand-alone application, allowing you to perform administration tasks without allowing access to the design running on the Q-SYS Core. The Administrator is only available in the Run mode or Emulate mode.
You can access the Q-SYS Administrator through Q-SYS Designer, or the stand-alone version of the Q-SYS Administrator.
In Run or Emulate mode, click the Administrator icon in the upper right corner of Q-SYS Designer. The Administrator displays in a new tab. You can switch between tabs as desired. If you leave the Run or Emulate mode, the Administrator tab closes.
In the Emulate mode, you can access many of the functions of the Administrator. in Run, you can access all of the Administrator functionality. When you are using the Administrator through Q-SYS Designer, you have access to only the design you are emulating, or running on the Core.
To use the stand-alone version of Administrator, you must first install the Administrator. Q-SYS Designer is not required.
When you are using the stand-alone version of the Administrator, you can not access a design running in Emulate mode. You can access any design running on any Core on your Q-LAN network. You must have the password if the design is password protected.
NOTE: If you have the Administrator open, and the design running on the Core is changed or re-deployed, the message "The design has been changed" displays. You must reselect the design.
The Administrator has 11 areas for configuring and maintaining a deployed Q-SYS system. You can access these areas using the tabs along the left side of the interface.
IMPORTANT: Changes you make in the Administrator are not saved until you click the Update button at the bottom of the Administrator. Cancel discards the changes.
This tab configures settings that affect several areas of the public address system including:
This tab displays an icon and name for each of the Page Stations (hardware proxies and virtual) included in the current Q-SYS Design. Double clicking one of the Page Station icons opens a dialog where you set
This tab displays each of the paging zones you have established as audio outputs on the PA Router in the currently running Q-SYS design. You can use Tags to group the zones, making it easier to assign zones to Commands.
This tab allows you to create Commands that you assign to page stations. You can create:
In addition, you can assign Tags to the Commands to assist in assigning them to Users or Page Stations.
You can schedule of Command by creating an Event containing the Command Start time/date, Repeat Period, Recurrence, and the End time/date.
This tab allows you to add Users to the design in order to provide security for the Public Address system, UCIs, and protection of designs on the Q-SYS Core. On a PA system, Users can be restricted to using only specific Page Stations and specific Commands. A User requires a Name, PIN and Priority. Then, depending on the User's function, you assign permission to:
In addition, you can assign Tags to the Users to assist in assigning them to UCIs or Page Stations.
This tab allows you to determine if User Logon to a UCI is required or not, and to specify which Users have access. The Users can be specified by selecting individual Users, and by Tag groupings.
Manage audio files on the Core for general Audio File Player use, PA Page Command Preambles, and PA Play Message Commands.
Keeps a list of events for a design in Run and Emulate modes.
The Q-SYS Softphone gives you the ability to connect to a Voice-over-IP telephone system (IP-PBX or SIP-based devices.
The Contacts tab gives you the ability to create contact lists for Local numbers and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) numbers.
Q-SYS now supports SNMP v2c and SNMP v3 for use with a MIB browser.
Dynamic Pairing allows you to name a virtual, networked, Q-SYS device (I/O Frame, Page Station, I/O-22, or TSC Touch Screen Controller) in your design, then connect any matching hardware device to the Q-LAN network and pair it with the virtual device without changing either the name of the hardware or virtual device.
